14. Timing

Nice timing eh? With this post it totally makes 14 post and before 11pm, too. You might not recommend such acts, i know, but the thing is that i love to feel the adrenalin inside me, so i leave it to the last minute, that's just my style...

13. Sonja

Today i'm going to talk about the person, who is responsible of me writing these lines, my ENG 101 teacher Sonja Tack. She has this revolutionary way to make students express themselves freely in English, not only allowing them to practice but also giving them more self-confidence about their English. Furthermore, she got us well informed about blogging and always supported us. Thank you Sonja, we appreciate it.

12. Exam (What a lovely day)

January the 6th was unfortunately not that special day for English, since i had two other final exams besides English exam. Starting from 10.30 with TLL 101 Final, lasting 2 hours and getting me devastated, but still i got the chance to rest untill 16.15. To be continued with RUS 101 exam my torture doesn't end, without a break i start my ENG 101 exam and after 75 minutes the last final exam of the day was over, just like i was. Luckily i was used to such conditions thanks to my lovely former school. Viva la DSI.

11. Second attempt to present

Although the movie we were supposed to present was a very painful and boring one, our second presentation was much more organised than the first, as we managed to get together one week before the presentation day. We structured and prepared well enough, but again our fourth member was missing. We all don't why he didn't show up that day. This effected our excellent yet fragile presentation in a very bad way.

P.S. Ahm, Sonja by the way Teena lies Lana about her being hermaphrodite, she was born as a girl, later became a transexual.

10. Toys for Boys

Guns have a different place in a mans life. Even though some loves it or hates it, some respects it or pities it, surely it feels different to be behind the barrel, holding a tremendous power. However it is nowadays usually confused with masculin power by the media as we can see in the movie "Tough Guise". But we see the same portrate in "The man who was almost do man" by Richard Wright in mid-1930s before the effects of media. A boy who tries to be a man by buying a gun, ending up however severely

09. Aggression of Men

When we look deep in the history, the aggression of men seems constant, but nowadays it looks like it is stimulated by the media. The violent and brutal movies effect men in a way that they immitate these movies unconsciously and become more violent and brutal themselves. The movie "Tough guise" proves this idea in many ways. Not only presented but sometimes also the brutallity is encouraged by these movies.

08. Marked Women from another POV

Every single day the effects of the media on the society gets more and more visible. People start to become like they see on television, internet or advertisements. However the most significant change can be seen on the women, as naturally they are marked, in result distinctive by their look. Everything about a womans physical appearance leaves a trace of her personality. That is why she has to keep her look at peek. The interesting point is that this is nowadays defined by the media. It can be clearly seen in the movie "Killing Us Softly 3" how the female population begin to lose weight, have surgeries and suffer just to be like the ones presented via media.

07. Marked Women?

According to Deborah Tannen all women are marked, meaning they are easily distincted from others. Judging by their clothes, outlook, motions and reactions their characters and feelings can be estimated. However this doesn't work with men. huh, wait? Does that mean that men are all the same? What a feminist idea is that? Yes Debby, I find you quite feminist. You know what, i think you women are all the same, cuz all you think about and live for is yourselves, and you gotta admit it...

OPEN FOR DISCUSSIONS

06. Mystery about FASS G048

We once experienced an unnoticable, yet very important situation in room G048. There was an unrelated sign on the middle of the class. Although anything else about the room was wrong, according to the records, other rooms in FASS building were not as lucky as ours. Records show that in some rooms desks and other class equipments were found missused and some broken in the morning. Neither responsibles nor witnesses were found. Some believe there may be a ghost in FASS building.

05. ENG 101

To be honest these session are the most interactive english lessons i've ever been. We took quizes as groups, which helped very much. We processed through images along the boring long readings, and even watched movies. Morever I loved the discussions made in the class, they were such exciting that it didn't even felt like a lesson at all. Honestly i think i've learned much during my English sessions, hope it could last longer...

04. Creative Common

Today we again meet with that ugly face of life, the property. Even digitally there are some limitations in using pictures, documents or programs made by others. The authors have "the rights" to decide whether you can use it, modify it or publish it. Even if the author puts no restriction, there should be a citation to the author. But damn, how the hell that author guy can know that i'm bloody using his stuff, and how the hell can he trace me down? Welcome to the digital world dudes, it's a free world

03. Attempting to present

After learning that our first presentation did not affect the grades, i was relieved enough to take a little nap in the first our. Still in the second hour, our first presentation in ENG 101 was a very good lesson to us. To begin with, we should have all got together before we start preparing, which would have allowed us to make better division of labor. Secondly we should have study better, so that we could present more fluently. However most importantly I learned not to trust an interpretation of a friends from wikipedia.org, because you may end up making the protagonist suicide although such thing never happens in the story.

02. Global Warming

Earth on Fire by badastronomy made available under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 GenericLicense

A few years earlier the common talk was about the global warming, which took the attention of the whole world, claiming the world will tear apart, sink under water and the doomsday may come, unless "pre-cautions" are not taken. Both the claims and pre-caution proposals were given by the same guy, the mighty Al Gore! In his movie "the inconvenient truth" all he shows is constantly ascending graphs of carbon emissions, temperature, water level etc. If he was elected he was going to solve all this problem with his mysterious alternative materials and fancy stuffs. But wait, he didn't get elected, a couple of years have past and we live the same life we did back then. However according to those graphs we should be living right now in a world like the hell. Instead the temperature completely stopped rising, driving some scammers to find new names like "Climate Change". So nowadays whenever its more rain, more tornados or more this 'n' that then it is climate change. And you guessed right, whenever less of these, again a climate change. Why don't they just give it up?
